Acting is Like Flossing a Rhino
... this post is inspired by a list of similes by the wonderful Matthew Freeman on writing a play.
After re-reading them all today, I feel it appropriate to suggest the following:
Acting is like having an awesome dream, and then going to sleep every night hoping you'll have the same dream again.
Acting is like riding a dragon to school everyday... where you're taught that dragons don't exist.
Acting is like pantsing yourself.
Acting is like punching a really soft, cushy wall.
Acting is like speaking 11 languages fluently, and then going to a country where none of them are spoken.
Acting is like spending 20 minutes looking for your keys until you realize they're in your pocket.
Acting is like trying to find a four leaf clover... while being pursued by a herd of bison.
Acting is like feeding steak to a vegetarian.
Acting is like flossing a rhino.
Acting is like, for realz.
Acting is like hijacking a porsche and the purposefully driving it into a wall.
Acting is like playing tea time with your dolls, except now they all have deep rooted psychological problems.
Acting is like getting into the deepest, darkest part of the cave before realizing you forgot your flashlight.
Acting is like waking up next to the most gorgeous human you have ever seen, and then actually waking up.
Acting is for lolz.
Acting is like Christmas before you found out Santa Clause isn't real.
Acting is not very much like a pastrami sandwich.
Acting is like balancing a blancing act on your head.
Acting is like flying a spaceship... to the bottom of the ocean.
Acting is like playing dress up... for Anna Wintour.
Acting is like falling in love every night.
Acting is like going through a break-up every night.
Acting is like going on a bender every night.
Acting is like getting sober every night.
Acting is like dealing drugs... except they're actually just sugar pills.
Acting is like learning how to walk, but no one thinks it's cute. (they're still filming you, though.)
Acting is actually a lot like sports!
Acting is pretty much like nothing your mother ever taught you.
Acting is like practicing yoga in the middle of the street.
Acting is like telling the voices in your head that you accept them as real people too, and respect their opinions and decisions.
Acting is like a whole lotta' lovin'.
Acting is like happy! sad! happy! sad! happy! sad!
Acting is like that one time when...
Any more?
Being part of performing arts, you must take more action into it and act like a Rhino to get your goals.
