Acting Lessons from Bert and Ernie

Mostly I try to avoid funny Youtube videos because it just leads to looking at more funny Youtube videos and before I know it two hours of productive time have been spent watching cute, cuddly cats run around doing silly things.

But yesterday, it was rainy out and I was on a Sesame Street kick.  Remember Bert and Ernie??  They are sooo funny!!  They are also pretty smart.  I couldn't help but feel like their little skits provided some insight into some basic acting skills, like using one's imagination and understanding the complexity of human emotion.

Isn't acting just pretending?  Here's what Ernie has to say about imagination!

Isn't it true that a human being can feel many different ways about any one particular situation?  We often feel many emotions all at once!  Don't forget to explore all these choices when working on a new scene or character!!

I don't feel as bad about watching Sesame Street for hours on end when I feel like it is teaching me something!  Enjoy and laugh and imagine!

Prudence

The people behind Sesame Street are geniuses. They prove how much can be done in a children's show!

Keep up the good observations!
