10 AM Rockstar

Peter-Pan-Full-Poster-6-with-logo Peter Pan finally opened last weekend on Sunday night!  What a fun night!  With fire and flying and fighting, there were a lot of things to work out during previews and tech, so finishing last week with such a successful opening night was super satisfying.

Then on Monday, I passed out and barely left my room except for food.  Then, on Tuesday, I got up at 6:30am to perform Peter Pan performance #2.  Why was I up so early??  Well, here in Alabama, the holiday shows put on special performances for the schools.  And little school children get up very early.  I've done 1pm matinees, but full length two act shows at 10am is a new thing for me!

The house was going to be packed with kids and I wanted to give it my all, so i got up super early at 6AM to start warming up my voice.  Okay, fine, so maybe I hit snooze a couple of time and got up at 7:15.  But still, that is really freakin' early!   I was pretty tired as I started coffee and jumped in the shower.  I cursed myself for not going to bed earlier.  Why oh why did Chelsea Handler have to have an interview special on Monday night??  I should have been sleeping!!

I got  to the theatre pretty early before the show to go through all my lines and warm up my voice.  I did some push-ups and I pounded some more coffee and green tea to get my blood really going.

Turns out, I might not of needed as much caffeine as I thought.  The crowd was full of so much energy I couldn't help but give an energetic performance. I'm not sure if the teachers were passing out candy or what, but those ten year old kids could really laugh and scream and squeal!   From the opening speech to Peter's last fly out over the crowd and curtain call, the kids cheered with delight for every move we made.  "Now I know how Justin Bieber feels."  Sarah, the actress playing Peter Pan commented after her flight over the screaming 12 year--old girls all reaching out their hands hoping to catch some fairy dust.

Yes indeed, those Alabama adolescents sure knew how to make the cast of Peter Pan feel like rockstars, even at a show at 10 in the morning.

Oh yeah, and we also got some other exciting news that made us feel like rockstars!  Peter Pan is officially extending an extra week into January because of booming ticket sales.  Here's the article on Broadway World and enjoy this little sneak peak of the show!
