Writing is hard.

Pen One of my plans for LA is to take a crack at tv writing. Here's the thing, every actor, at least many actors, think that they can always be a writer, it's almost like an easy back up plan. But it's NOT easy. It's hard. Writing is hard. Especially since we do it on computers, which also have the Internet, which is wildly distracting. I've been trying to write in 20 minute bursts, as that seems manageable and achievable.

And the writing I've been doing is interesting. I find myself starting with a bit of dialogue I heard that day, or some fact I remember. I write kind of like the internet forces us to think now - one thought leads to another, or reminds you that you know this certain fact. It's interesting. I feel like the scattered tone lends itself to a project I'm developing.

But it's hard going. I never get enough done. Never! The hardest thing is to do is sit down and start typing with no expectations. because that's all you can do. You can't plan on getting this and this done. You just need to sit down and start working. It's kind of meditative. But it's hard. I'm learning.

I week until I fly to LA!

I can totally relate!! I heard setting a goal each day, like 500 words, helps. Still very challenging to stick to!
