Des Moines: Hell, Yes.
By now, I've been to some pretty rockin' cities including San Francisco, Toronto, and Seattle, just to name a few...But who would have guessed one of my favorite cities to visit would be Des Moines?!? Yep! It's a true story:....I lurrrrve Des Moines....and I have this great t-shirt to prove it!
First off, I found a rockin' coffee joint,....then I found a unique Chinese pizza place....yum! (Chinese pizza may sound disgusting,...but is actually a brilliant combination!) The pizza place even stayed open until 2AM on week days!! In Des Moines!! Places in bigger cities like Denver wouldn't even stay open that late on Tuesdays. That means the cast actually had a cool place to hang and snack and chill out after the show!!!
Then there's the fact that everybody in Iowa is just really really nice. All the people in the cars give a wave. People on the street all say hello and make eye contact, but not in a scary, creepy way. And everyone is always careful to apologize and say "Oh, I'm sorry!" even if they didn't really do anything that bothered you or got in your way.
Also, I found a great t-shirt store called Raygun that I had to visit four times because I kept thinking of more t-shirts I wanted to buy for friends!!! The whole store is online, so if you're like me and wanna show off your love for the Midwest, you should totally take a look.
But I can't lie....the main reason I lurrrrved (loved) Iowa soooo much was because my family was there. My parents and lil' sis were just two hours away! On the last Saturday show before leaving Iowa, a bunch of my family from Nebraska also made a two hour drive to catch the show. It was so amazing to see everyone and have their support! It was an afternoon I will never forget.
Another cool thing that opened recently there: http://www.desmoinessocialclub.org/

Emily, we love that you lurrrved Des Moines. Our city has taken huge steps over the past 5 or so years to develop and change for the better.
