The Boyfriend Who's Going To Put Me In His Film

My boyfriend is a film major at NYU. With one more year to go, he’s preparing to write and direct his advanced film.

I received a draft of his newest script and was floored. It was great! There were so many real moments between the characters, the dialogue was believable, and I saw traces of his own personal life embedded throughout the story, which made it really interesting to read. At the end of the story, I just wanted more.

Now, I support him in everything he does, but he only writes for guys. The last short film he wrote and directed had only one woman in it, and she was the cleaning lady at the hotel they were shooting in! Not exactly a role a woman can shine in.

I know that it’s only natural for people to write experiences that they’re familiar with. After all, he is a young male so naturally he would write about… young males, but I’m hoping that he’ll start to branch out and write some wonderful stories featuring women... in which perhaps I could play the lead.

Just think, we could be the next Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet, Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, Greg T. Gordon and Dominique Toney.
