The Mini-Account of an Insane Audition-Laden Day
7 a.m. - Go to bed after writing all evening.
8:25 a.m. - Wake up terrified that The Blob is invading my apartment. Fling pillow at doorway before noting mental imbalance.
8:43 a.m. - Go to kitchen, eat small mound of chocolate, wander back to bed.
11 a.m. - Wake up, self-chastise for staying up all night. Drink several cups of hyper-caffeinated Green Tea, consume toast.
12 p.m. - Work on Italian dialect for "might get in for it" pilot audition to play a Venetian courtesan. Fantasize about moving to Toronto and playing a freakin' Venetian courtesan.
2 p.m. - Get ready for massive MGM feature film audition. Try out weird it'll-make-it-shiny hair spray. Temporary shock at resulting shiny-ness.
2:58 p.m. - Freak out after ripping a hole through favorite audition jeans.
3:05 p.m. - Run from apartment, spend too much money due to "$8 credit card minimum" to obtain cup of Routine Pre-Audition Tea.
3:45 p.m. - Receive call from Networked-With Sundance Director -- he wants to meet tonight to discuss the SCRIPT! Bounce about in taxi.
3:40 p.m. - Arrive at Big Film Casting Director's Office. Brimming with good energy. Big Film Casting Director walks out and gives me a huge wave and "hello!".
3:52 p.m. - Walk in to casting room. Read for Big Casting Director's Big Casting Partner. Not thrilled with my read.
3:55 p.m. - Get further direction and info about the character. Lots of info. He chats with me about her intricacies for a long time, which I take as a positive sign. I read again, and feel much better. Casting Director tells me "very good read".
4:00 p.m. - Get asked to read the second scene, even though they said they'd only be seeing one.
4:07 p.m. - Exit casting room to find other actresses all staring, wondering why I'd been in there for so damn long.
4:08 p.m. - Really hope this is a good sign. Knew I really went "out there" with my choices, and didn't hold back.
4:30 p.m. - Stop at Starbucks to nab a sandwich + more tea, call Mom, relay audition details.
5:17 p.m. - Plop in front of computer, in a slight (but wonderfully exhausted) daze, and detail everything in somewhat military format. Because I'm loony.
Time for a nap before Sundance meeting, Ashley Avis
What a cool day! Get some rest, now ;-)
What's the hairspray? (Who makes it?)
