Speak the Speech
I'm having a lot of fun with my new acting assignment. I get to do several accents and play different and funny characters. And--thankfully--due to the comic nature, the accents need not be perfect. In fact, I think it adds to the comedy by exaggerating the sounds. But I really would like to master a few dialects for the ol' repertoire. They do make an actor more marketable--providing the accent matches what you look like. I'm not going to play Tony Montana so I can forget "Say 'lo to mah lil fren!"
Speaking of which, I'm focusing on more fluency in speaking Spanish as well. I took two years in high school and another two years in college, but without immersion or regular use I never got to master it the way I wanted to. So I've decided to give up internet surfing and English speaking television for a while, to expedite my learning. I'm reading this a lot now: El Diario NY. I doubt learning Spanish will have any use for my acting career, but who knows? I might be a token Gringo on a telenovella one day, ahahaah.
I want to be filmed in a hospital, lying with tubes out my ears, awakening from the coma to the shattering news....
No! No puedo! No me digas! No puedo! Tras muerte de mi amor..... No! Nooooooooo!
