Avail...able?
Yea! I love being on avail for a job. I love being on avail for a job unless I don't get the job. Which happened just a few weeks ago. For me, it's much harder to know that I was so close to booking than to not be called back at all. BUT, for tonight I am on avail for a national commercial and I'm hoping that it's my turn this time.
Hopefully, I will know tomorrow and have good news to share. If not, I may make reservations for "pity party of one."
It was a great Monday. I had the above mentioned callback and another commercial audition for Aflac (cue the duck!) and both were fun, creative jobs. And I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I was only competing against four other people for the Aflac job. I like those odds!
I've had a bit of a dry spell commercially, so it has been a good morale booster to be auditioning frequently again and getting solid feedback from new casting directors. Someday, I may get tired of avails, but for now, I take it as a sign that things are moving forward, and that I'm auditioning well. So many factors go into casting, particularly with commercials, that I don't take it personally when the job doesn't swing in my favor. But...that doesn't mean that I'm not competitive.
Biting my nails in anticipation...
