Memorial Day

I was back home visiting my folks this weekend.  We had a little family emergency on Sunday so I wasn't able to blog, but here I am now.

Flag_2 In memorial of Memorial Day I'd like to reflect on my parents.  My father is a Vietnam Veteran, and my mother's father also served our country.  Looking back on where I grew up - a very rural area - and the paths my parent's took, it would be understandable if one assumed that my folks had greeted my career choices with skeptisicm, laughter or even horror.

But, thankfully, they've always been supportive and helpful (my mother was even giving me advice about my manager this weekend).  I can't begin to imagine what my life would be like had they tried to stop me or showed any contempt or unhappiness with my decisions.

Me, on the other hand... sometimes I have to look at myself and ask "What do you think you're doing?" But my parents have never asked.  And for that, I am most grateful.
