I'm Talking Zoom
What a great place to be... Los Angeles on a Holiday Weekend... Yeah, it’s great to get out of town… But Saturday I drove to see a friend of mine at a 24-hour care facility. A trip that would normally take an hour… took about 20 minutes. I’m talking ZOOM people, 70 mph the whole way… And could have gone faster if I wanted. I can't imagine how much more I'd like living out here if it was like that more often.
Things slowed down greatly once I parked, and went in to visit. My friend, diagnosed with Stage Three lung cancer and other complications, is there because she has trouble managing on her own at this point with basic things. Walking, driving, screwing tops off of water bottles, or deleting messages off her phone.
While I was sitting with her we talked about taking things for granted, how it’s so easy to do. She said something about how graceful I was, and I laughed, “me graceful?” Then that statement fell into perspective. Compared to the people riding beds in the nursing home, yeah, I am. I am as graceful as I am. And I should appreciate it while I have it.
I left thinking, “I need to find out more about the Actor’s Fund.” I did a little research when I got home, though that didn’t really answer too many of my questions. My friend has made a living as an actor, like many of us, for years. And now besides her limited insurance company, generous friends, colleges, and possibly the Actor’s Fund, are helping her out covering some of her mounding bills.
I don’t know enough about the Fund to endorse it at this time, however, I do know enough that I’ll be further researching by phone on Tuesday, and possibly making a donation to it then.
Life goes by quick, things happen quickly. May we all live till 101, and drive 70 mph the whole way… And we should all appreciate what we have.
I'm embedding a song, if you've heard it, maybe listen again, I know it always does me good to hear it. And if you've never heard it... Give a listen. I don't know the video... But the song, I know well, and may embed it several more times in the future.

Today I'll put on sunscreen and dance... And I need to start traveling but this weekend, I'll enjoy the traffic-less streets and highways!

Thanks for posting this. Sorry to hear about your friend.
Sadly, we do take much for granted.
